On the afternoon of November 22, 2020, the associate professor Li Yong delivered an academic report entitled Intelligent Prediction of Mega-nourishment Terrain Evolution for Coastal Ecological Restoration.

The report firstly introduces an effective means of soft coastal engineering, and the terrain changes caused by the complex mechanism of wave, sediment transport and shoreline are hard to analysis and predict. In order to achieve a good performance in prediction, the report introduces an approach combining convolution neural network (CNN) and long short-term memory network (LSTM). In addition, two master students in Li Yong's research group respectively reported the research progress in remote sensing monitoring of agricultural crop quality. Liu Lingjie uses convolution neural network construct citrus leaf nitrogen content estimation model, and compares with other methods. The results show that the method has higher accuracy. Based on Landsat8 satellite images, Wu Tong analyzes a variety of machine learning models to estimate the sweet orange leaf nitrogen content and its spatial distribution, which is able to provide strong support for scientific management and decision-making of orchard. The teachers and students held a wide discussion on the problems in the research, which was fruitful.
