The 5th SEG Rock Physics and Geofluid Detection Workshop

发布时间: 2023-12-19

From December 8 to 10, the 5th SEG Rock Physics and Geofluid Detection Workshop was held in our university. The workshop focused on the Theory, methods, techniques and applications in environmental resource geophysical survey and geofluid detection. The opening ceremony of the workshop was addressed by Jinhai Zheng, Vice President of Hohai University, and Xuri Huang, Executive President of SEG China. More than 100 domestic and overseas experts participated in the workshop.

Speech by Prof. Xuri Huang, CEO of SEG China.

During the workshop, experts and scholars from foreign universities and research institutions such as the University of Birmingham, Purdue University, Curtin University, and Edith Cowan University delved into the exploration of geological energy and CO2 geologic storage. They presented a series of cutting-edge technologies concerning the capture, storage, monitoring, and safety of carbon dioxide. By integrating knowledge exchange and international collaboration within the green transformation process, the workshop provided crucial methods of theoretical research and technological development to achieve the dual-carbon goals in the future.

Meanwhile, experts and scholars from domestic universities and research institutions, such as Tsinghua University, China University of Petroleum (Beijing), Hohai University, and the Research Institute of Exploration and Development in Changqing Oilfield of CNPC deeply discussed the topics related to onshore deep-layers, deep-water, and unconventional oil/gas resource exploration. They analyzed the research and production challenges faced by China in onshore/offshore deep-buried unconventional reservoir exploration from multiple perspectives. The workshop resulted in a series of advanced foundational theories and key technologies for oil/gas exploration and development, offering significant guidance for the industry development and technological advancement. This, in turn, would contribute to China's energy system construction during the 14th Five-Year Plan, facilitating the efficiency of oil/gas exploration and the assurance of national energy security.
