报告人简介：Professor John Miron，加拿大多伦多大学地理学与社会学系教授，SCI杂志Canadian Journal of Regional Science编委。1969年本科毕业于加拿大皇后大学经济和数学系，1970年获宾夕法尼亚大学区域科学硕士，1974年多伦多大学地理系博士。毕业后在多伦多大学从事城市、房地产与区位理论的教学与科研工作，取得相当的成就。曾两度被多伦多大学聘为地理系主任，还被Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada、University of York、Universidad National Autonoma de Mexico以及University of Hong Kong聘为客座教授。Miron教授著作等身，曾在包括《Geographical Analysis》、《Urban Geogaraphy》等世界顶尖杂志发表高质量的文章几十篇，撰写专著和合著几十本，主持科研项目10余项。目前从事的主要研究方向：

1. Land use planning and the organization of cities;

2. Export-based models of an urban economy with one industry;

3. Maps, spatial analysis, and human geography;

4.Markets and the organization of cities;

5.Property markets and the urban economy.
